On 26, 27 and 28 August, the European Floral Art Championships took place. In Katowice, Poland, Dutch Floral Designer Hanneke Frankema took the win. There can be no doubt that Hanneke likes to work with organic shapes and curved lines. With her fairytale-like entry, she made a deep impression on both the professional jury and the public.
Sales manager
John Buskermolen was present at the European Championships and followed the
competition closely. “The enthusiasm and dynamism were noticeable. The European Championship is
something that many green professionals are looking forward to. The application
of the various techniques, the innovations and the way of working, there is a lot
of interest in that from the industry.”
During the
European Championships, several themed pieces had to be made. From a table
piece, where six people had to be able to sit, to a real 'body' in which it
also had to be possible to dance. Points were awarded to each piece. In
addition, not only the wow effect was looked at, but also things like time
management and the extent to which the materials brought with them were
processed. In total there were six assignments. Four of them could be prepared.
The other two assignments were told to the participants on the spot. This also
applied to the final piece, which had to be made within 45 minutes during the
gala evening.
“Hanneke had an incredible focus these days, very impressive! The florists really showed an outstanding performance. It is very special to be part of that, to compare the different theme pieces with each other and to predict the finalists.” In addition to Hanneke's entry, John was also very impressed by the work from Romania and Slovakia.
We are proud that we have been able to sponsor Hanneke during this beautiful event and are looking forward to the next edition!
